Goodies Mahamudu Iddrisu, the Circuit Court Judge presiding over the case of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Goodies Music Productions, Isaac Abeiku Aidoo who allegedly attempted exporting cocaine, yesterday said he would go to Nsawam Prisons to verify if indeed the accused person was ill. The Judge expressed displeasure about the number of adjournments he had to give on the case because of the inability of Aidoo, also known as Goodies, to appear in court with the excuse that he was not well. He said he needed proof to believe that the popular music producer was not feeling well. This was after Jah Mosiah, counsel for the accused person, prayed the court for an adjournment of the case on the grounds that his client was not feeling well. Counsel however failed to produce a note to prove his client’s ill-health. The Judge even got more suspicious when he asked the Prison Officer, who normally brought Goodies to court, where the accused person was and he said he was in prison custody; leaving the Judge to wonder why a person who is reportedly ill would be in prison custody instead of the hospital. Mr. Mahamudu made it clear that he could not condone such a behaviour without proof, and subsequently adjourned the case to 29 August for the trial to begin. This was not the first time Aidoo, who was arrested on April 23 this year for carrying 80 pellets of white substance suspected to be cocaine, had failed to appear in court. He sometimes reported ill when the case was at the Regional Tribunal. According to the prosecuting Attorney, Mrs. Evelyn Keelson, the music producer was arrested at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) when he was undergoing pre-boarding formalities to board a Ghana International Airways (GIA) flight to London. She noted that he was then taken to the 37 Military Hospital where an X-ray conducted on him revealed that he had foreign materials in his stomach and as a result had to be put on observation. The State Attorney said while on observation, the accused expelled all the 80 pellets and when arrested, he told the police that the items were given to him by a certain Abdul Hamid, who is a musician, to be given to one Willie in London for a fee of £3,000. But he had since failed to assist the police to locate the said Hamid. He had pleaded not guilty to attempted exportation and possession of narcotic drugs without lawful authority. source: Daily Guide src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
