Joseph Pamfo and Jackie Appiah One of Ghana’s actors, Joseph Pamfo, known in showbiz circles as Joe-shortingo is already feeling uneasy about his wedding day because he believes his diminutive size will hinder his wish to lift up his bride like other men usually do at weddings. In a chat with this reporter in Accra, the 3.5 feet actor told Showbiz that his ideal woman should be well-educated, well-groomed, dark-skinned and should be much taller than him. “With this woman I will have four children, preferably two boys and two girls.” He added with a smile. The 22-year-old, said that until he lay hands on his ideal woman who will be faithful enough to love him from deep down her heart, he will keep on avoiding all those women who run to him in the name of love. “I know very well that all these women approach me because of the fame and money but because I’m a christian, I don’t entertain them. Though I have a KIA truck that plies within Accra, I do not consider myself rich because I’ve not hit my target in life.” He added. Asked if he’s ever dated anyone before, he said “I had female friends when I was in school and then in 2007 when I worked with an international executive producer, I got closer to his daughter but because of something which I cannot disclose we couldn’t go any further. That was the closest I ever got to a woman. I have plans of getting married when I settle down with an apartment and a car, my own private car and not just a truck that works for me.” Joe-shortingo, who started as a stage actor while still in school touched on his acting career. Hear him. “I was inspired by Nollywood’s Aki and Porpor when I was in Junior High School. Many of my friends also encouraged me to go into acting because they thought I did so well anytime I came on stage when I joined the drama group in Wesley Grammer where I had my SHS education and studied General Arts. I then joined a concert party group called Bomkasa Concert Party Group from 2004 to 2006. While I was with them, we had a radio drama show of which I was part on Radio Hit now Hitz FM. “After I completed Senior High School in 2006, a friend of mine from Miracle studios took me to see one Madam Naa Borkai Addy. This woman inspired and encouraged me so much. She then spoke to the producer of Miracle Films, Samuel Akwasi Nyamekye who first used me in Alomo Djata. In October, 2007, I had a contract to go to Malawi for a film produced by Vega Film AG in Switzerland. There, I met Franka Potente who is a super star in Berlin and Hollywood and some other celebrities. Franka also starred in Parriates Of The Carribean;. he added. Joe’s two years into the movie industry has won him roles in 16 Ghanaian films and two international ones No Time To Die and Baba’s Trail which is yet to be premiered. Some Ghanaian movies he’s starred in include Big Dreams, My Love (Me Do), We Dodge, Ye Ko Mma pe, Bosomba, Sika Enibre, Eni da su wo ho among others. He also has plans of furthering his education to the university level to improve upon his acting skills. Joe who was born to Madam Kate Aikens and Mr. James Pamfo, is the last of five siblings, three males including himself and two females. He attended Darkuman 1 JSS for his primary and JHS education. He said, “my dad is very tall, my mum is medium height and my siblings are all tall. But I’m grateful to God for my life because even though growing up was not too great, I have been blessed today with talent that is taking me places and opening doors for me.” Give Joe anything rice with sausage and he will readily give in to any proposal. When not on set he is either glued to his TV watching movies or has his head burried in a novel or anything readable, where he learns to improve his vocabulary, acting skills and speaking capabilities.
